Candy Candy

My first exposure to anime was in the 70's. I was probably 7 or 8 that time when I first watched Candy Candy. I don't even remember the stories so I watched some clips again today. It's a story of three orphans: Candy, Annie and Tom who grew up in Pony's Home, an old church cared by two nuns, Sister Pony and Sister Lane. I've always had a fondness for stories about orphans--Penny of Disney's The Rescuers, Little Orphan Annie, Oliver! I believe it has influenced me a lot on what I wanted to do later in life which is work with underprivileged children.

And so for today's blog, I just wanted to thank the Japanese animators and manga writers for sharing Candy Candy to the world. Check out this video clip from YouTube of episode 1/2. It's in Japanese sub-titled in English. I personally thank Fofiko1 for uploading all 115 episodes of Candy Candy. Arigatou gozaimasu!
